Join the Director of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Steven Chu, the Chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley, Robert Birgeneau, Deputy Assistant Secretary John Mizroch of the U.S. Department of Energy, and Dian Grueneich of the California Public Utilities Commission for the announcement of a major cooperative research effort with India on energy and the environment.
The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and University of California, Berkeley, will announce a joint research and development program in which researchers will work with the government and private sector of India to assist both countries adopt pathways and approaches for reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases while pursuing sustainable economic development. BIJLEE will bring together researchers to develop energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies, and policy mechanisms to transfer these technologies to the marketplace with the goal of combating climate change and promoting economic growth.
